Hysteroscopy is the procedure performed to treat the uterine cavity pathology. The best time to perform the surgery is during the 6-12 day of the menstrual cycle. Though uterine rarely affects the infertility process but it plays a key role in the reproduction system. Moreover, the congenital uterine anomalies negatively influence the fertility ratio in the females.
During the procedure, a thin telescope is first attached to a light source and a video camera and then inserted through the vagina and cervix while inserting the fluid that helps in distending the cavity. The video camera allows the surgeon a magnified view of the uterine cavity and helps him decide the kind of hysteroscopy they would follow, be it a diagnostic hysteroscopy, a hysteroscopic myomectomy or tubal cannulation.
